Arguably the most successful act of revolutionary terror was the June 1914 assassination of the Archduke Francis Ferdinand in Sarajevo. It sparked WWI and the independance of Serbia as was hoped for. The attacks of 911 were also succesful - they caused war in Afghanistan and Iraq. Hopefully Mumbai won't spark war between India and Pakistan
